FAQs

Why are trips arranged on Wednesdays and Thursdays - these days aren't convenient for me.

Most of our members prefer a matinee performance so they are not too late getting home. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the days when theatres put on a matinee. They also do one on Saturday, but weekend performances are more expensive.

Why are there so many musicals/whodunnits/comedies at the moment?

We can only organize trips to what is being performed, and theatres seem to have years when a particular type of entertainment is the flavour of the season. We do try to offer a variety but sometimes this is impossible.

I just want to go to the theatre and not spend a whole day out.

Again, we have tested the water at the AGM a couple of times and most people enjoy having a day out, with time for lunch or shopping. Many of our members are elderly and don’t drive, so it gives them a chance to get to the shops. However, we do try to include some visits just to the theatre performance.

Why do we have to book so far in advance? I don't know what I'll be doing in 3 months time.

Tickets for matinée performances get booked up very quickly, so as soon as we find a show we think people will enjoy, Helen reserves 40 seats. The theatres require confirmation and payment about 3 months before our visit, to give them plenty of time to sell any tickets we do not require, so we have to have numbers in by then.
